Website Design and Branding

Website Design and Branding for Nam's Custom Designs

A self-taught designer given a full brand identity and a store that sells genuinely made-to-measure fashion online.

Nam's Custom Designs is a custom, made-to-measure women's fashion label specializing in vibrant, African-inspired clothing handcrafted to each customer's exact measurements. Founded by a self-taught, award-winning designer, the brand celebrates bold colour, curve-flattering fits, and body positivity, creating one-of-a-kind pieces made to fit the individual. The craft was exceptional and the reputation was growing through fashion shows and word of mouth, but the brand had no cohesive identity and no way to sell its highly custom work online.

Objective

Nam needed two things built from nothing: a brand identity as distinctive as the clothing, and an online store capable of something most e-commerce sites cannot do, letting customers order truly made-to-measure garments. The goal was a complete brand presence and a custom storefront that could showcase the collections, capture each customer's fabric choice and personal measurements, and turn a made-to-order craft into a business that sells beyond in-person events.

The Challenge

Selling made-to-measure fashion online is genuinely hard. A brand like Nam's does not sell off-the-rack items with a size dropdown; every piece is cut to an individual's measurements in a fabric they choose, which is exactly what makes it special and exactly what a standard online store cannot handle. On top of that, the brand had no cohesive visual identity to tie it together, and no e-commerce presence at all, its reach was capped by how many people it could meet in person. A label with real artistry and a loyal following was, online, both invisible and unequipped to sell the very thing that set it apart.

Our Approach

The work had to solve both problems at once: give the brand a professional identity, and build a store that could actually take a custom, made-to-measure order. Rather than treat the logo as an afterthought, the project began with the brand itself, its personality, colour, and voice, and built outward into a full visual system, then into a custom online store engineered specifically around Nam's made-to-measure process. Everything was shaped mobile-first, because fashion is browsed and bought on phones more than anywhere else.

What We Did

A complete brand identity, built from the ground up.

The brand came first. A distinctive script wordmark was designed from scratch, finished with a custom button-and-thread emblem that speaks directly to the craft of tailoring, presented across a range of directions and refined to the final mark. It was paired with a warm, characterful colour palette and a considered typography system, and delivered in every format Nam would need, from her website to printed displays at in-person events, giving the brand an identity as memorable as the clothing.

A brand style guide to keep it consistent.

Alongside the logo, a full style guide was created, defining the brand's typography, colour palette, imagery direction, and logo usage in one reference. That guide gives Nam a clear, consistent visual identity to work from, so every piece of marketing she creates stays on-brand and professional as the business grows.

A made-to-measure ordering system, built into the store.

This was the heart of the build. Every garment lets a customer choose their fabric from a library of around thirty prints and materials, then enter their own body measurements through a guided, validated fitting tool before adding the piece to their cart, so they are commissioning a garment cut precisely for them, not guessing at a size. It turns an intricate, in-person tailoring process into something a customer can do online, from anywhere, which is what lets the brand sell its custom work at a scale in-person fittings never could.

A measurement guide that makes custom ordering easy.

Because made-to-measure only works if customers measure correctly, a detailed, illustrated how-to-measure guide was created to walk them through every measurement, complete with custom diagrams, and wired directly into the ordering tool. It removes the intimidation from ordering custom clothing online and helps ensure each piece fits as intended.

A full custom storefront, designed to sell.

Around the made-to-measure core, a complete e-commerce experience brings the brand online: collections organized so the colourful, handcrafted pieces are the star, a dedicated fabric collection, filtering and search, a wishlist, customer accounts and order tracking, multi-currency support for customers beyond Canada, a shoppable lookbook connecting the brand's social content directly to products, and a clear custom-order process from first look to finished garment.

Site copy and a visual, mobile-first experience.

The site's content was written to carry the brand's voice, from the story of the label to the way each piece is presented, and the whole experience was designed to let the vibrant garments and fabrics lead, clean, editorial, and colour-forward, and built mobile-first for the phones where most fashion shopping happens.

Outcome

The Results

Nam's Custom Designs went from no online presence to a complete brand and a custom storefront that does something rare: it sells genuinely made-to-measure fashion online. Customers can now discover the brand, choose a fabric, submit their own measurements, and commission a one-of-a-kind garment from anywhere, while the label handles production and shipping. The business has a cohesive identity to grow on and a commercial platform that extends its reach far beyond in-person events, giving a self-taught, award-winning designer the foundation to turn a personal craft into a scalable business.

I am super excited with the outcome. It was an awesome experience working with Centrix.
