Website Design
Website Design for Hillcrest Pharmacy
An independent pharmacy whose new website finally makes its personal service the reason patients choose it.
Hillcrest Pharmacy is an independent community pharmacy in the US, the sort of neighborhood place where the pharmacist knows patients by name and gives them time the chains cannot. That personal care is its real edge. Online, though, none of it showed: the old site was dated and generic, and gave a patient searching for a pharmacy no reason to pick Hillcrest over the chain down the street.
Objective
Hillcrest needed a site that made its personal care obvious to someone who had never set foot inside, and gave them a reason to leave their current pharmacy. It had to get across quickly what the pharmacy does, put a face to the people behind the counter, take the friction out of transferring a prescription, and convert more of the nearby patients searching online into people who actually walk in.
The Challenge
Hillcrest went up against national chains with deeper pockets and busier corners, but the thing that set it apart, knowing its patients and caring for them properly, never came across online. The old site listed little more than an address and hours and gave no sense of why an independent might be the better choice. Someone searching for a pharmacy, a flu shot, or help shifting their prescriptions met the chains first and had no reason to dig further, so the very people who would have valued Hillcrest most simply never found it.
Our Approach
Centrix rebuilt the site around the reasons people actually leave a chain: wanting a pharmacist who remembers them, shorter waits, and genuine help with their medicines. The content put the personal care and the people front and center, so a first-time visitor could feel the difference before ever stepping inside. The prescription transfer, the biggest thing standing between a patient and switching, was made to look quick and painless, with an obvious place to start. The services people search for were made easy to spot, and the whole thing was shaped to feel like the calm, friendly pharmacy behind it.
What We Did
Leading with what makes patients switch.
Rather than open with products, Centrix built the homepage around the things that pull a patient away from a chain: a pharmacist who actually knows them, less time waiting, and real help managing their medications. A visitor saw their own frustration named, and Hillcrest offered as the fix, within seconds of landing.
Faces behind the counter, not a queue.
Personal service is the whole point of an independent, yet Hillcrest's pharmacist and team were nowhere on the old site. Centrix put them out front, so a patient could tell they would be looked after by people who would learn their name, rather than processed. That is the one thing a chain can never reproduce.
Taking the pain out of switching.
The thing that keeps most people tied to a chain is the hassle of moving their prescriptions, so Centrix made that step feel light. In place of a vague note buried on a contact page, the site gave a plain, reassuring way to begin a transfer, asking only for what mattered, so leaving the chain felt easy instead of like a chore.
Every service, easy to find.
Flu shots, immunizations, medication syncing, delivery, and the other reasons people walk into a pharmacy were laid out clearly and in plain language. A patient hunting for one specific service could tell at a glance that Hillcrest offered it close by, which turned a routine search into a reason to pick the independent.
A site that feels like the shop.
The tone, the imagery, and the plain language were shaped to match the unhurried, friendly care patients get in person, so the site read as Hillcrest and not a stock template. When a business wins on how it treats people, the site had to make that warmth land immediately and carry it through to the moment someone reaches out.
Effortless on any phone, at any age.
Everything was built to open fast, behave well on a phone, and stay legible and simple to navigate for every patient, older ones included. On that clean, dependable base, someone could move from a quick search to starting a transfer or booking a shot in a few taps, whatever device they showed up on.
Outcome
The Results
With the new site live, more of the patients searching nearby chose Hillcrest instead of drifting to the chain out of habit. Because the site made the personal care visible and the switch easy, more of the people who found it actually followed through, and the pharmacy found itself talking to patients already minded to stay. A website that had let a genuinely good independent fade into the background became a reliable way to take patients back from the chains around it.
The old website did us no favors, it made us blend right in with the chains, which is the opposite of what we are. Now people find us, see what we actually do differently, and come in ready to switch. We've taken on patients who tell us they never knew a pharmacy like ours was right down the street.
